Nursing is a profession within the health care sector focused on the care of individuals, families, and communities so they may attain, maintain, or recover optimal health and quality of life. Nurses may be differentiated from other health care providers by their approach to patient care, training, and scope of practice. Nurses practice in a wide diversity of practice areas with a different scope of practice and level of prescriber authority in each. Many nurses provide care within the ordering scope of physicians, and this traditional role has come to shape the historic public image of nurses as care providers. However, nurses are permitted by most jurisdictions to practice independently in a variety of settings depending on training level.

Nursing is an independent program and is sub-branch of medical science. Nursing graduates as a member of healthcare team will be working in areas related to health care education, research, consultancy, prevention, management, and rehabilitation. B.Sc. in nursing is the first level of nursing education which has been developed based on scientific and religious criteria. Nursing education at the B.Sc. level trains professional nurses, who are general staff nurse, would be able to take a responsibility of health assessment, coordination and implementation of care for individuals and families in different areas of practice.

The mission of nursing education at B.Sc. level is to train knowledgeable, committed, competent, and efficient professionals, who by gaining professional abilities and latest knowledge are capable of providing, maintaining and improving healthcare and rehabilitation services for the society that are cost-efficient with highest standards. This could be achieved through education, research and development of nursing knowledge.

Department of Midwifery

Midwifery is the health science and the health profession that deals with pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. Its graduates as members of healthcare team are actively engaged in reproductive health, health care during pregnancy, during and after the birth, neonatal care, education, sexual and reproductive health consultancy, promotion of normal and safe delivery, diagnosis of abnormal status in mother, fetus or newborn, emergency interventions during pregnancy or delivery and on time referral of unusual cases. They strive to provide and promote health of mother, fetus, newborns and neonates.

The mission of the program is to train committed, competent and knowledgeable midwifery professionals who are able to deliver midwifery services at different levels of prevention to patients independently as members of healthcare team. 



Department of Surgical Technology in Operating Room

Surgical technology in operating room is a profession within the health care sector focused on the care of individuals who refer to operating room so they may attain, maintain, or recover optimal health. It an independent program and is a sub-branch of medical sciences. Surgical technology in operating room graduates as a member of healthcare team will be working in operating room. B.Sc. in surgical technology in operating room is the first level of operating room education which has been developed based on scientific criteria. This program at the B.Sc. level trains professional technologists who are able to take a responsibility of operating room, coordination and implementation of surgery for individual.

Based on the education mission, training efficient human resource with professional abilities in operating room and making best of up-to-date knowledge and technology, giving care services before, during and after surgery in its highest standard level to preserve, promote and prevail patients’ and public health. Based on research mission, development of culture of research among the students in order to expand the borders of knowledge in domain of operating room. Based on clinical mission, promotion of clinical skills, reinforcement of team activities with emphasis on the latest clinical needs in direction of patients’ and society’s health as well as development of students’ positive attitude towards their profession.
